The Holy Week Rites in Taranto, Apulia - the region that forms the heel of Italy - are an emotional experience even for the non-Christians.
Amazingly, every activity seems to stop for two sleepless days. A crowd of people will follow the route of the pageants in an almost religious silence, fully aware they're helping to keep a long tradition alive.

On this website you'll find a basic description of the activities that take place and the history behind them. Because a picture is worth a thousand words, just check our photo gallery for a visual trip through the events revolving around the two major religious processions.

To go through the site, simply select the specific sections from the menu on the left (use the white / green squares) and start browsing.

I hope you will enjoy your visit! For any inquiry, please send an email to: info@holyweektaranto.com.
